Brisbane Northside private hospital is a totally new hospital development completed and opened on July 30th 2001. It is on the grounds of Prince Charles Hospital, a major tertiary public hospital as part of Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital.
HSN is the only comprehensive private hospital for the whole of the northern suburbs of Brisbane. It has a drainage population of 576,000 approx. The hospital is tertiary, comprehensive with CCU, ICU and cardiac surgical unit. It is owned by the Sisters of Charity and Missionary Sisters of the Holy Spirit and is one of a group of five they own and operate in Queensland.
We opened the Emergency Centre on day one. The consulting contract began in October 2000 to allow adequate planning. It involved a full development contract starting with design and construction and commissioning of the centre, followed by recruitment and training of all staff.
The launch was a soft opening with a restricted marketing program to develop the unit slowly. This was because it was the first time a new hospital and new emergency were opened on the same day. Systems were not able to be fully tested so we opened cautiously. It is a major success and has extremely strong Specialist and GP support.
Impact operates the whole of the centre employing and contracting all of the doctors and also key staff such as the practice manager/nurse manager and marketing manager.
